On October 5th, SWA held a seminar: Understanding Regulation 242/16: Amendment to Regulation 213/91 Affecting the Use of Suspended Work Platform Systems. An interpretation of the regulation was provided by a contractor, Rob Gilligan of The Restorers Group, and by an equipment provider, Jim Downey of Skyway Canada. Highlights included key changes introduced by the amendment:
- Notification requirements prior to using suspended work platforms
- Training requirements for both riggers & users
- Pre-use requirements: work plan, roof plan
- Fall protection: CSA Z259.2.5
- Labels & Markings of equipment CSA Z271-10
