SWA held its Below Grade Waterproofing Technical Seminar & Luncheon on October 4th at The Vue. More than 90 attendees heard about the City of Toronto's new request to developers and building owners to manage storm water and/or ground water by providing a water tight structure without ground water discharge into the municipal sewer works. The seminar informed attendees of this change, what necessitated it, the environmental impact of it as well as how it will change the design and construction of buildings in the future.
A panel of experts explained the policy, provided project specific examples and professional experience:
- Matthew Bielaski, Environmental Engineer and Hydrogeologist with Terraprobe
- Mike Porco, Manager of Shoring Design, Terraprobe
- Jose Palanco, Engineer, Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd.
- James Cooper, Project Engineer, Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd.
SWA wishes to thank Macdero for sponsoring the luncheon.
